Welcome to Dooger's BLOG!

Geeklog

Welcome to my BLOG. Last year at the Steckly Christmas dinner, we talked about creating a web site where we could all logon and share stories and information about our families. Since I'm a huge procrastinator, I've put it off until now, just two weeks before the next get together. Since it is a brand new website, and I'm still learning the new BLOG Engine, you may see some bugs here and there. If you find something strange, just let me know and I'll try to fix it.

If you are unfamiliar with what a BLOG is, it's simply a dynamic web page where each user has input into the content. Officially, BLOG is short for web log. Your first step will be to request a userID so you can logon and create your own topics, stories, and events to share with the rest of us.

Restrictions!  All this lovely Fall weather and here I sit looking at it.  Don’t raise your left arm; don’t drive the car; stay out of the hot tub; take your medicine and see me again in two weeks!

So what do retired people do besides go to Florida in the winter?  Well, like today a group of us got together to renew old acquaintance and remember all the good times of days of yore.  There were lots of eyeglasses, hearing aids, a cane or two, false teeth and artificial joints and truth be told probably a few pacemakers.

When life hands you a lemon you can experience a very bitter taste or you can make sweet lemonade.  This week a friend reminded me that adversity can be a positive factor in who we are but it takes patience.

Where do you draw the line?  This was a question recently ask of me.  The implication was that the church needs to draw a line in the sand which its’ members may not cross.  Jesus drew such a line when he said, “you are forgiven, now go and sin no more”.

I was fixing a small snack and set two cartons of eggs on the counter.  Immediately I noticed one dozen was much smaller then the other although both were sold as grade A large.  I got out my scale and discovered a twenty five percent variance.  So who sets the standard for the size of eggs?  How about a standard for Christians!

High stakes gambling is not only happening in Las Vegas.  It is most prevalent in the valley of the shadow of death where folks are betting their eternal soul that they have one more day to get right with God.  We are all walking that pathway of life that will ultimately lead to our demise.

The most devastating lie in all history was told to Eve by Satan back in the Garden of Eden; You can replace God and be First Lady of Creation!  Today it’s called “humanism” and people are still believing and doing it.
